Note 4 Battery Calibrations - Introduction, Reason, and Fixing

Page view

A healthy phone battery is an ideal goal for any phone user. The more expensive phone you buy, the higher you expect it to perform. But sometimes, cell phone users face battery-related problems that they may not be fully aware of how to prevent or manage. In order to get ahead of the situation, it would be prudent to be informed and use your battery in a way that does not depreciate its performance or health. But if it is about managing the battery performance, there are definitely a lot of things you can do.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a great set with a 3220 mAh battery. Before we get into the details, let’s see what the ideal performance scale is for Note 4. The battery of Note 4 is made with Li-ion. It has a talk time of 20 hours and a music playback time of a whopping 80 hours. However, the performance of all batteries diminishes over time. To make your phone battery last longer you have to use it with care and not exploit its work capacity too much. It also serves well to charge it properly and not leave it plugged in. Such batteries with over-heat and the battery acids will lose their potency much faster. It is advised to adopt healthy battery usage practices to avoid any such issues altogether.

How Do You Calibrate Your Note 4 battery?

A lot of Note 4 users find themselves in need of performing some generic battery maintenance such as battery calibration. But before starting the calibration process, it would be prudent to find out if the issue you are facing with your battery is about calibration problems or there is something wrong with your Note 4 battery. The best way to identify the real problem is to check your battery visually. Take the battery out of the phone and swollen sections or signs of battery acid leakage. If your find an issue with the battery itself then a replacement is required otherwise if the battery looks damage-free consider calibration. Before we start, let’s find out what calibration actually is?

Smartphones have an Android operating system that displays batter statistics. This feature enables the user to monitor battery usage, capacity, performance, etc. Sometimes this data starts to frits and display inaccurate readings. This is the reason your battery may be displaying the wrong charging percentage or it may be turning off way before the battery hits 0%. When these problems arise the android OS fails to show true readings for battery data and requires recalibration.

Here is how you can calibrate your Samsung Galaxy Note 4:

Step 1 - Discharge your battery completely and let it turn off

Step 2 - Keeping the phone turned off, plug it in for charging until it’s full

Step 3 - Now dial *#0228# on the keypad and you will see the “Battery Status” screen. It will have your complete battery status. Note the values to check after calibration.

Step 4 - At the bottom of this status screen, there should be a “Quick Start” button.  Press this button and start the calibration process.

Step 5 – Once you are finished, redial the *#0228# code on the keypad which will display the “Battery Status” screen again.

Step 6 – Compare the values displayed now to the ones noted before the calibration to see the improvement.

It is a simple calibration process that can fix a lot of battery issues within minutes. As to why your battery is facing problems, there can be many culprits.

Why is Your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Battery Draining So Fast?

Unnaturally fast drainage of batter is a very common problem faced by cell phone users. There is a great diversity in the reason behind this issue. Some common reasons behind quick battery draining for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are as follows:

  Battery damages

Incompatibility of battery management feature and OS version

Using too many power-intensive apps at the same time

Attempts to access data on faulty SD cards consuming high power

These are not all the issues but some major ones. The issues with an individual handset can be found by the following method:

  Go to “Settings”

  Then to “Device”

  Then “Battery”

  Browse the usage patterns

Quit any unnecessary apps that are draining batter

Uninstall the ones you do not use any longer

There are several other changes that you can make to your phone settings in order to fix your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 battery.

How Do You Fix Your Note 4 Battery?

If your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 battery is giving you grief then here are some simple changes that you can make to your mobile phone settings to fix it:

1.Restart your handset periodically to turn off the background process and save battery

2.Wipe or format your SD card to avoid engaging the battery in hopes to retrieve data from damaged sections

3.Disable background sync or at least customize it by going to Settings > Accounts > Sync Settings.

4.Disable power-intensive features when not in use such as location services, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc from the dropdown menu.

5.Switch your mobile’s location services setting from “high accuracy” to either on battery saver mode or Device only mode.

6.Try to use dark mode as much as possible to save battery spend on screen lighting and brightness.

7.Use power-saving modes whenever possible, for example, while driving or in a meeting. It can be activated from the phone’s dropdown menu.

8.As a precaution try to avoid discharging the battery completely to 0%. It puts a negative effect on the life of Li-ion batteries if they are fully discharged too often and reduces their life span considerably.

So, it may seem like this is too much task to take care of your battery’s health properly. But once you get the hang of healthy battery usage practices, it will become second nature to you, and your phone will never give you battery troubles.
