Does Draining a Car Battery Damage it-Draining and Working Hour
Draining a car battery on a regular basis can damage the battery and end its life. The life of the battery can be a factor too. If you have been using a battery for more than 4 years it is very dangerous for it to drain. However, if you have got the battery recently draining it once or twice will not be noticeable.
What things can drain a car battery when the car is off?
Dead car batteries cause a lot of inconveniences if you have to reach anywhere early. It can be reversed and the battery can be recharged but still, you must know the factors behind training your car battery.
What causes car batteries to drain?
We will discuss some of the reasons which are the biggest reason behind a dead battery.
Headlights can be the Culprit
If your car battery keeps on draining the first thing that you should check is your lights. The most common reason behind a dead battery is that headlight if you didn't turn them off.
There is a feature in some of the cars which automatically turns off the lights after some time. If you are not sure about that feature or you do not have it, just don't forget to turn off the lights before getting out of your car. If you do not do so, your battery will be dead in no time.
Car Battery Terminals
One of the other reasons that can cause your battery to get drained is the loose terminals of your Battery. They can also be corroded or rusted if the battery is too old. You should keep checking for the terminals of your battery and fix them if any repair is needed. They should not get loose or the battery will not be able to supply the power completely. Regularly clean the terminal of the battery to avoid the risk of corrosion and rust.
Extreme Weather
Most of the batteries that are used for more than three or four years lose their tolerance against the extremities of weather. If it is too cold or too hot outside it can affect the performance of the battery very badly. Sometimes it can also damage the battery to an extent where it dies completely. If you are facing this problem you should consult a mechanic to get something done about the problem.
