Many small electrical equipment on the market use 18650 batteries. Due to fierce competition, the quality of batteries produced by some manufacturers is not very good, and they often encounter battery failure problems. So what is the repair method after the 18650 battery fails?
1. How to repair 18650 battery with rust on the surface: the metal surface of the lithium-ion battery used for a long time will be oxidized to a certain extent, which will cause the battery electrode to rust, making the battery and the electrical equipment wire poor contact, and the lithium-ion battery life Make it shorter, and use rubber palm or other cleaning tools to erase the rusty material on the surface, which can reduce the circuit resistance and increase the conductivity.
2. Repairing 18650 battery with alternating hot and cold method: Low temperature can change the electrolyte inside the lithium-ion battery and promote the chemical reaction of the battery that has just been frozen. The use process of lithium ion batteries is actually a charge and discharge process. During this period, the negative and positive charges in the 18650 battery collide with each other. The reason why the battery is becoming less and less useful is because the kinetic energy inside the electronics is relatively large at normal room temperature, so the battery is in an active state and leakage is relatively frequent. When the 18650 battery is placed in a low-temperature environment, the microstructure of the lithium film on the surface of the lithium-ion battery and the electrolyte, as well as their interface, will change significantly, resulting in temporary inactivity inside the battery and reduced leakage current. So after recharging, the battery capacity can be restored to a certain extent.
The cycle life of 18650 battery is about 600 times. If the number of charging is increased, the thermal movement of the molecules will gradually destroy the internal molecular arrangement and microstructure, and the storage charge efficiency will gradually decrease. "The freezing process easily destroys the original internal structure of the battery. You may be able to add charge in a short period of time, but long-term use may not be effective. 3. Deep discharge method to repair the battery: Deep discharge of the mobile phone is to achieve a deeper recharge by depleting the internal electric energy, which requires some unconventional methods. Think of a way to connect the 18650 battery to a small 1.5V light bulb, and the power inside the lithium-ion battery will be transferred to the light bulb until all is discharged. The battery slowly drains its power through a lower voltage. After the battery is discharged, the recharged battery can be used for a longer time.
4. High-voltage charging method to repair the battery: charge it with a lithium-ion battery high-voltage charger (5V, 300MA) for 5 minutes. The charger can be a mobile phone charger or a charging head, but a universal charger cannot be used, because the universal charger needs to identify the voltage. After five minutes, test the battery voltage V again. If the voltage rises to 1V, continue charging (measure the voltage every 5 minutes). Charge to 3V, congratulations!
